On March 5th I had the chance to play for the first time the Pianotronics show in Barcelona. The venue was the Bar Manchester, it is a small and nice club in the heart of the Gotico district.

At the end of the article you can find a video of the show. Low quality, but it works.

On a technical side, all the sounds and sample come from by beloved Elektron Octatrack. Visuals are made in TouchDesigner. Everything is synced via MIDI with the Octatrack as master and TD as slave. An aux channel of the Octatrack sends audio to TouchDesigner for audio-reactive systems and effects.

Pianotronics is an electronic/ambient work entirely made up of piano. I recorded about six hours of piano improvisation, with tonality and BPM as instructions only. Then I collected the most interesting samples and turned them into sounds and composition with advanced sound design techniques.
